Jess Metzmeier serves as the Vice President for Career and Professional Development for Centre College. He leads Centre’s comprehensive and innovative Career and Professional Development program. His responsibilities include directing the College’s strategic career development initiatives, developing and strengthening employer relationships, and establishing mentorships, internships, and research opportunities that lead to career pathways for all Centre students.

Previously, Metzmeier worked for 16 years at Bellarmine University – most recently as the Chief Government, Community, and Strategic Partnership Officer. In this capacity, he was instrumental in fostering relationships with corporate, governmental and nonprofit entities, and successfully managed initiatives that bridged academic and career preparation. His prior roles at Bellarmine included Assistant Vice President of Strategic Partnerships and Director of Corporate and Foundation Giving.

Metzmeier’s connection to Centre runs deep. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in anthropology/sociology and religion from Centre College in 2004 and it was here he met his wife, Sarah (Hermann) Metzmeier, also a 2004 graduate. He also holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. from Bellarmine.
